About this race

An election will be held on November 3, 2026, to elect the United States representative for New York's 13th congressional district, concurrently with other elections to the House of Representatives, elections to the Senate, and various state and local elections. The primary election took place on June 23, 2026. The 13th district is based in Upper Manhattan and the Northwest Bronx, including the neighborhoods of Harlem, Morningside Heights, Spanish Harlem, Hamilton Heights, Washington Heights, Inwood, Marble Hill, Fordham, Kingsbridge, and Bedford Park.

The incumbent was Democrat Adriano Espaillat, who was first elected in 2016, re-elected with 83.5% of the vote in 2024, and was defeated in the Democratic primary by Darializa Avila Chevalier. The primary received national attention as a fight between the Democratic Party's mainstream wing and the party's democratic socialist wing.
